CLOSED. California State Parks says Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is closed to all visitors from Tuesday, September 22, 2026, including trails, the Beach Trail Staircase, the Lodge and both upper lots. No reopening date was posted on 2026-10-23. Dogs are not allowed.Checked October 23, 2026.
Closure Notice
The Reserve is closed. State Parks wrote: “Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 22: The Reserve will be closed to all visitors, including pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles. The closure includes all trails, the Beach Trail Staircase, the Lodge and both upper parking lots.” The page ties the closure to the Torrey Pines Utility Project and gave no end date on 2026-10-23.
The same page also shows “Trail Conditions: All trails are open.” That conflicts with the closure. We treat the reserve as closed until State Parks says otherwise. This is a status read on 2026-10-23, not a permanent one.
Before Closure
The page describes a state reserve that is home to the Torrey pine, with hiking trails, and says that groups hiking must apply for a Special Event permit and schedule a docent-guided hike. Trail lengths are not on the page we read.
Nearby
The beach side has its own page: Torrey Pines State Beach and Reserve. That page may describe the reserve; use this page for the closure status. State Parks lists beach day-use prices of $10.00 to $25.00 at North Beach and $12.00 to $25.00 at South Beach (demand-based, subject to change).
What We Could Not Verify
- Reopening date is not confirmed. California State Parks, (858) 755-2063, can confirm.
- The State Parks page says both “closed to all visitors” and “All trails are open.” Closure wording is used here; California State Parks can confirm.
- Trail lengths and whether the Extension trails are open are not confirmed.
