Torrey Pines State Beach is at 12600 N. Torrey Pines Road. Gates open at 7:15 a.m. and close at sunset. No dogs are allowed anywhere in the reserve or beach, even in a vehicle. State Parks lists the reserve above as closed to visitors since September 22, with no reopening date. Call to confirm.Checked October 23, 2026.

Reserve Closure
State Parks lists the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve as closed to all visitors since September 22, including trails, the Beach Trail Staircase, the Lodge and the upper lots, with no reopening date. The Visitor Center is listed as closed until March, and picnicking and camping are prohibited. The same page’s trail conditions say all trails are open, so the page conflicts. Call before planning any hike.
Bluff Safety
State Parks says to stay away from the bottom of the cliffs. Rockslides and collapses happen without warning. At low tide there is more sand, so stay about 10 feet from the bluffs. When the South Beach lot is full the entrance closes. Groups need a permit.
