Safety Notes Read on October 23, 2026

  • Hodges Reservoir: “Closed November through January,” per the City of San Diego.
  • County parks (Felicita, Dos Picos and others): the County site showed a “Storm Recovery Information” banner about park closures. We did not read it, so check county parks before you go.
  • Daley Ranch: afternoons can be extremely hot and fresh water is limited; the Caballo Trail is in poor condition.
  • Lake Poway and Mount Woodson: the City of Poway closes lake trails when 100-degree heat is predicted and says popular trails can be dangerous in the heat.
  • Ramona Grasslands: 1.1 miles of the old trail are permanently closed.

What We Could Not Verify

  • Our town list is our own grouping of Escondido, San Marcos, Vista, Poway and Ramona, not official boundaries. Valley Center and Fallbrook were not researched.
  • Blocked to our reader, so thin or missing: California Center for the Arts, The Wave Waterpark, Moonlight Amphitheatre, the City of Vista, the City of San Marcos (Walnut Grove Park) and Rancho Buena Vista Adobe. Those pages say what is not confirmed.
  • A Powerhouse Community Center from our draft list does not exist in Poway; that name belongs to Del Mar. Ramona Pioneer Park could not be confirmed; Collier County Park is listed in its place. Lake San Marcos was left out because no public page was reached.
  • The Queen Califia’s Magical Circle hours are not confirmed, and the website queencalifia.org describes itself as an independent guide.
