Rules to Know

A California fishing license is required for everyone 16 and older, and a daily permit is required. The City page says there is still a temporary ban on private watercraft and equipment that may have touched mussel-exposed water, including private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders and anchors. Kernel corn is prohibited as bait, fires are not permitted, and all fish caught are reported to the dock attendant. Pets are forbidden in the park, and swimming and wading are not allowed. See California Fishing License and Limits.

Fish

The City says Lake Wohlford is stocked with trout and catfish annually. No stocking schedule is given.

What We Could Not Verify

  • The fee schedule comes from a page noting fees updated December 1, 2020, so current fees are not confirmed; the City of Escondido Lakes Division can confirm.
  • Closing time (the page says dusk), stocking dates and whether any camping exists are not confirmed. No camping is stated.
  • The private boat ban is described as temporary; when it ends is not confirmed.
