The Day-Before-Trip Meal

This site’s pick for a meal the day before a long-range trip is Mitch’s Seafood, a short walk from the Point Loma landings. It sits at 1403 Scott Street, the same address printed for Point Loma Sportfishing, and it is close to H&M Landing and Fisherman’s Landing.

What It Serves

This site loves the fish tacos, the oysters and the breakfast burrito here. The menu on mitchsseafood.com lists tacos (swordfish, octopus, fried fish, calamari or rock fish; ask what is in season), a grilled fish salad, steamed clams and mussels, and Fisherman’s Stew. It also lists three burgers, including a half-pound burger with fries and a BBQ bacon burger. Breakfast is served daily from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and includes a breakfast burrito (egg, salsa fresca, potatoes, cheese, bacon or sausage), chilaquiles and a crab cake Benedict. Its beer and wine section says “San Diego’s famous breweries on tap” (21 and over). The menu shows no prices on the page we read.

Sourcing

The site says “Local fish from local fishermen” and that it only uses sustainably caught seafood. That is the restaurant’s own statement; we have not checked it independently.

Plan Your Visit

Order at the counter, then find a seat inside or outside. The restaurant asks that takeout orders be eaten off the premises. Parking was not mentioned on its site and may be tight near the docks at busy times, so allow extra time. Pair it with a stop at the tackle shops.

What We Could Not Verify

  • Hours conflict on mitchsseafood.com (10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the main list versus 8:30 p.m. in the footer). Call (619) 222-8787 to confirm.
  • Latitude and longitude are approximate for the Scott Street docks.
  • The sourcing claim is the restaurant’s own and is not independently checked.
  • Oysters are not a standalone item on the menu we read (oyster appears only in the Campechana); the oyster praise is this site’s opinion, so ask what is available.
  • Fish tacos are listed as “Tacos” with fish choices that change with the season. Which beers are on tap is not listed.
  • Kids menu items, current prices and parking are not confirmed.
